This influential panel examines the role of design in tackling social justice issues and the underrepresentation and lack of diversity in the profession. Novità Senior Vice President Joseph Cephas moderates the panel alongside respected Black leaders in the design industry: Angelita Scott, Ph.D., Maya Bird-Murphy, and Ronnie Belizaire, IIDA. Dr. Angie Scott led a panel with Rev. Mariama White-Hammond, Boston’s Chief of Environment, Energy, and Open Space, and the founding pastor of New Roots AME Church in Dorchester. They discussed the importance of acting intentionally, holistically, and locally to address the climate crisis. They emphasized that the crisis is also a social and spiritual challenge, reflecting on the kind of world we want to create. Questions included: What are our personal and collective values? How can we care for ourselves, connect within our communities, and motivate each other to take action?

African Humanity is a collection of thought-provoking essays written by scholars from around the world, tackling topics that inspire innovative thinking and critical perspectives on Africa and the African Diaspora. The essays focus on discussions about creativity, culture, identity, and well-being across various disciplines such as design, art, gender studies, education, health, and museum studies, within the contexts of pre-colonial, colonial, and post-colonial Africa and the African Diaspora. Dr. Angie Scott wrote Chapter 34: "People, Place, and the Environment: An Alternative Lens from the Souls of Black Folk."

An expert-led workshop explores the current physical, mental, and societal challenges of aging. They discuss programming and design strategies to help individuals and caregivers address these issues. The session also includes case studies and examples illustrating how architecture, design, and technology can be integrated into healthy, safe living environments, beginning with a keynote address by Dr. Angie Scott.
